Reflection
This assignment was a group based project at which we were tasked to choose a site that has a space connected to the building envelope in order to carry out site measurements and analysis. We chose one of my group member's house at which the dining hall was our case study. We carried out measurements on the brightness level, temperature, humidity, sun positions, shadows, wind, sound and sky condition of the space in order to identify the factors that are lacking, hence, proposing ideal passive design strategies to improve the space.

Throughout this assignment, we learned a lot the effect of thermal comfort factors in a person and in a space relating to Shading and Lighting, referring to the MS1525, UBBL and GBI. Based on our understanding, we were able to to analyze and justify the design of the space in terms of its exterior and interior factors, thus, having the ability to suggest passive solutions for Shading and Lighting.
In short, this module has introduced the components and environmental factors that affects the external and internal condition of a building. Through lectures and tutorials, I have learned to analyze and justify the environmental factors in order to propose passive and active design, hence, understanding the needs to achieve optimal human comfort. Therefore, I am now more knowledgeable about the basic elements of climate and their influences on architecture in order to create acceptable environmentally conscious and comfortable building designs.
