BUILDING CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL
Reflection :
Overall, this module has helped me develop an in-depth understanding on"How is A Building Made?" to "How are Building Materials Made?" through various lectures and exercises. As a Semester 2 student, knowledge and information regarding timber construction was important as it was the focus material of the semester. Hence, I am grateful to have learnt not only about materiality and constructability, but also the construction process of developing a building.

Reflection :
Our first assignment was an introduction to building materiality by requiring us students to distinguish between architectural building materials and structural building materials. We were allowed to select a building of our choice whereby we were to study the background of the architect, identify the materials and provide a comparison between them.
Through this assignment, I had a chance to research on a building that uses PVD Stainless Steel, a material I have not heard of before as well as kinetic machinery in a building to create movement on the facade. Hence, I was able to gain more knowledge on modern day building materials as well as have a critical perspective on what materials are suitable for a building and its design.
ASSIGNMENT 2
Assignment 2 was a groupwork project between architecture students and interior architecture students to produce construction drawings from orthographics to sectional details. Our group was assigned Timber-framed house at which we produced drawings from the pre-construction phase until the post superstructure process.
Through this assignment, I have developed an understanding on structural elements in timber construction and was introduced to technical details in building designs. Hence, the knowledge I gained through this assignment has widen my knowledge on the construction process, use of timber as a construction material and the importance of construction drawings to showcase a building design.
